Who We Are
Belhaven Farm is a family-owned and operated equestrian training center, nestled in the foothills/upstate area of the Carolinas in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Our trainers and riders have decades of experience taking young or under-developed horses and growing them into reliable, high-performing companions and hunter-jumpers for riders that are competitive at all levels.
Horses at Belhaven compete in USEF A and AA rated shows and local circuits, proving their excellence through rankings and multiple competition awards. Through comprehensive show experience and a dedication to high standards of quality and performance, every horse we offer for sale or lease has the potential to be a winner.
We understand the importance of incorporating the latest innovations in horse care, performance, and safety to ensure a best-in-class experience and maintain all grounds and facilities with meticulous care.
Belhaven is conveniently located for easy access but far enough away to provide a quiet and peaceful environment for horses and riders, with 88 acres of beautiful, wooded trails to enjoy and escape the outside world.
We welcome all ages and levels of experience, and hope you will come see for yourself what makes Belhaven Farm a special place to connect with horses and experience the joy of horsemanship.
Meet the Belhaven Farm Team
Belle Montgomery
Owner and Lead Trainer
-
Belle is the heart of the Belhaven Farm operation, spending her days on the farm researching the best horses to add to the stables and training them to be superstars.
She has been riding for nearly 30 years, competing in junior hunter and jumper competitions throughout her childhood and teen years, then going on to join the Sewanee Equestrian team during college at the University of the South.
Her experience includes coaching her own two daughters through the hunter-jumper circuit for many years, winning awards in local circuits and USEF-rated shows.
Her training and mentorship with Jeanne Smith at Clearview Farm as well as access to miles of trails at her parents’ farm ensured she was never too far from a horse at any point in life, instilling a high level of skill and horsemanship that she now teaches others.
She is never too busy to talk horses, so drop her a line if you’re interested in working together!
Arden Pierce
Lead Rider and Training Support
-
Arden Pierce has been riding for more than 15 years, honing her skills and talent to pave the way for a career in the equestrian sports industry. She is currently a member of the Appalachian State Equestrian team, competing at the highest collegiate level in the Open Division in both over fences and flat. She has spent many years competing in local circuits and USEF-rated shows as both a junior and an amateur.
She believes everyone’s experience with learning horsemanship is a journey where patience, trust, and communication play pivotal roles. She is a strong advocate for helping riders overcome challenges and fear through the transformative power of equine connection and is passionate about the opportunity to guide both riders and horses through the learning process, watching as they develop a partnership built on respect and understanding.
She provides knowledge and hands-on support for horse, pony, and rider training, as well as preparing horses for shows, sale or lease, and is an integral part of the Belhaven team.
